Playing Lair this week was the first time that I can say the gameplay actually was good enough to stand up next to its graphical dominance. Every other time I’ve played the game, the SIXAXIS controls and chaos of Lair made the title damn near impossible to play.
Now, however, I found myself gliding through the air with ease and taking out enemies and ships with no problem whatsoever. While others at Sony’s Gamers Day complained of issues with a tracking arrow and control problems, I actually had no problem picking up and playing the game.
And, as far as the good looks of Lair are concerned, I’ve never seen the game look better. The water and environment effects were nothing short of the most stunning video game graphics to date.
I was just happy to see the gameplay had finally caught up with the eye candy.
