Holy Jimminy Soulja-Boy Christmas. Now this project is totally bananas, and not just because it features Master Chief doing a multi-hit super combo on Mega Man X. What’s really insane is that Card Sagas Wars, a presumably fan made game, actually looks good. With the exception of a few crappy backgrounds, this thing looks even better than Jump Ultimate Stars, the huge Manga cross-over game produced by Nintendo themselves.

Though I can’t say anything for sure about this project due to my inability to read Spanish (the game is being made in Madrid, Spain), I’m gathering that Card Sagas Wars is a game made possible thanks to the M.U.G.E.N. game engine, the custom 2D fighting game maker that helped bring so many popular posts here on D-toid to fruition. M.U.G.E.N. games are known for using recycled sprites from other games, which is part of what makes Card Sagas Wars so strange. Though a few of these sprites look a little familiar, I’m pretty sure most of them are new for this game, amazing when you consider the huge amount of contentthat Card Sagas Wars is packing.
This game is to feature characters from Killer Instinct, Final Fantasy, Advance Wars, Silent Hill, Capcom’s Dungeons and Dragons games, the list goes on. I’ve seen many of M.U.G.E.N. projects before, but nothing quite like this. Also worth mentioning is that according to one of Card Sagas Wars’ creator’s personal blogs, he is only eighteen-years-old. Did an eighteen-year-old make this many sprites by himself?
Good grief…
It gets stranger when you take a look at the tutorial section on the game’s official site, which shows you, the viewer at home, how to make your own 2D fighting game sprites. If Card Sagas Wars sprites were made by regular shlubs like you and me who are some how turning onto pixel placement Michaelangelos after reading the tutorial, that would partially explain how this game has some much original content. Could Card Sagas Wars be the first globally created, infinite possibility, 2D fighting war dream collaboration project? There is only one way to find out.
First one of you who makes a Mr. Destructoid sprite that actually gets used in Card Sagas Wars gets a life time supply of hugs from me, the sandwich of your choosing, and crisp new fifty dollar bill.
