Mob votes have been a popular (but now disliked) tradition in the Minecraft community that lets players take part in choosing the next mob coming to the game. However, only the winning mob is added to Minecraft, and the rejected ones are forgotten. With Minecraft now doing away with Mob Votes, I think it’s time the Mojang team digs into those old files of forgotten mobs and adds them to the game. Here are five of my favorite ‘Mob Vote’ rejected mobs that I wish to see in Minecraft.
Note: We are not including mobs that are confirmed to never be added to the game, as well as biome vote mobs as they are planned to arrive at some point.
Copper Golem
The Copper Golem is one of the most unique mobs ever presented to the community in the Mob Votes. It was designed with two distinct functionalities: first, it could oxidize over time and eventually turn into statues for decoration. While still mobile, it would randomly press copper buttons, adding an element of unpredictability to redstone machines.
Players could even craft this adorable little mob using copper ingots! The Copper Golem is quite a cute and interesting mob, and many fans, including myself, still hope it gets added to the game someday. It lost the vote to Allay, but I’m not too upset about that.
Moobloom
Moobloom would have been a completely aesthetic cow variant, adorned with beautiful flowers growing on its back. This delightful mob was supposed to spawn in the flower forest biome, adding a touch of color and movement to this already vibrant environment.
While Moobloom might not have provided any practical uses, it captured the hearts of many. I personally adore the idea of having Moobloom in the game, and I would love to see it in action soon!
Iceologer
The Iceologer was possibly the coolest (pun intended) mob that was rejected in Minecraft’s Mob Vote in 2020. This hostile illager would have spawned on mountain tops and attacked players with clouds of flying ice, adding a new layer of challenge to the game.
Imagine the fun of incorporating this mob into mini-games or player-made adventure maps! Unfortunately, it lost to the rather underwhelming Glow Squid, which left many fans disappointed.
Tuff Golem
The Tuff Golem, which lost to the Sniffer, is another golem variant that still hasn’t made its way into Minecraft. It was designed to look like a statue but had the ability to move around and hold an item. This unique feature would have made it perfect for player art exhibitions, adding a touch of life to various builds.
Crab
The Crab is the most recent rejected mob, losing to the Armadillo in the 2023 Mob Vote. It would have been a useful addition for builders, as it was designed to spawn in mangrove swamps and featured one large claw. Players could have obtained this claw in a way that allowed them to place blocks from further away, effectively extending their reach.
Although this concept has since been added to the game through an attribute command, the Crab may never be officially included. Nevertheless, it’s a fun idea that many players still remember!
