Old Market Simulator is a store simulation game on a small island. In order to complete all the quests, you will need to open up your store and begin selling items to the citizens of the island.
Old Market Simulator Guide - All Quests
You will begin Old Market Simulator on the central island. On this island, you can find all the stores you need to get started and ways to expand your store. Here is a map of the main island:
The first thing you will have to do is complete the quest Stands, which requires that you get a stand from the Lumberjack. From the starting location, turn to the right, then head around the corner to the right. The Lumberjack will be in the back corner. After, you will need place it inside your store for quest Stand Placement. Next, head to the dock to the west of your store and Order some items to sell. You will have the option to buy four different items:
- Bread: 12 for 660c. Lasts 2 days.
- Egg: 10 for 120c. Lasts for 3 days.
- Carrot: 15 for 270c. Lasts for 5 days.
- Potato: 25 for 400c. Lasts for 5 days.
I suggest buying two of each which is enough to keep your store going for a bit without taking too long to move everything the next day. Once all your stuff is ordered, you need to head up the stairs on the west of your store to go to your bedroom, which is right above your store. Interact with the bed to Sleep until the next day.
The items you ordered will be laid out on the dock near the ship on the west side of the island; use the ski lift-like conveyer system to move them all closer to the store to complete Transportation. Fill up your shelves, then set prices by hovering over each of the items and pressing X. After that Open the store by interacting with the CLOSED sign on the door. To complete your First Sale, you need to hover over each of the items the customer places on the counter and press E. Then the customer will pay; pick up the payment bag with E.
Events Calendar location
The next quest will have you look for an event calendar. This can be found in the Grand Bazaar, which is out the door of your shop. From there, head right and keep going straight into the giant building. A couple of feet up and to the left right inside the building will be a State Officer. The calendar will be hanging on the wall a little to the right of his stand.
Let There Be Light Walkthrough
Next up, there will be a quest to Let There Be Light; you need to go to the decorative store, which is in the Bazaar near the State Officer. There are plenty of different types of decorative lights you can purchase; pick any one of them, and then place it in your store somewhere.
Trash walkthrough
As soon as you have an empty box of things you are selling, you will get the quest Trash, which requires you to take the empty boxes outside. There is a burning pyre right in front of your store that you can toss them in. You can consolidate two partly-empty boxes or baskets of the same items if you pick up one of them, then use the V key on the other.
Cleaning walkthrough
Cleaning is the next quest; you need to go back to the Lumberjack, and purchase a broom for 50c. Clean up any dirt spots that have little floaty white pieces above it. The broom, like all the other tools in Old Market Simulator, will eventually break; the remaining durability will be in the bottom right of the screen when you are holding the broom.
How to unlock the Farm
Next, you need to unlock the farm. This will allow you to purchase seeds and plant your own veggies and fruit to earn some extra cash. Go to the Architect, located inside the Grand Bazaar. When you enter the Grand Bazaar, immediately turn left, then turn right at the dead end; the Architect will be at the end of this hallway. He will have a whole bunch of expansions you can purchase, including the first Farm Field for 500c.
How to order new products
The next quest will be to get permissions to order a greater variety of products from the Order menu. Go to where the Calendar was, then interact with the State Officer. You can pay for the ability to order all sorts of different kinds of products, including new produce, jellies, and all sorts of other things. In order to complete the quest, you just have to purchase any one of these.
Where is the barn?
The last quests will see you buying a horse and putting it in your barn. In order to unlock the barn, you need to go back to the Architect in the Grand Bazaar. Unlock Barn 1, which you will need to scroll down to see. Then head to the Animal Market, which is right next to the Lumberjack. Purchase a Horse; there will be one for 1,000c and one for 2,500c. The 2,500c horse walks faster, carries twice as much as the cheaper horse, and has a higher upkeep. I suggest getting the more expensive horse; it's worth the extra cost. The Barn is located right next to the Animal Market; bring the box over and place the horse's hay inside. Press H to call your horse.
How to get all achievements in Old Market Simulator
There are a total of 10 achievements you can earn in Old Market Simulator, and all of them require only pretty basic progression.
- Farmer's Joy: Harvest your first crop. Purchase a Farm expansion from the Architect, hoe the farming area, plant seeds from the Gardener, then water them for several days until they grow. Picking them will put them in a box, allowing you to put them on a display in your store.
- Tree-Mendous: Harvest from a tree for the first time. Plant a tree from the Gardener in your farm, then wait for it to fruit. Pick the fruit from the tree to get this achievement.
- Fish Whisperer: Catch your first fish. The Lumberjack sells a boat, an oar, and a fishing pole; there is a dock for the boat a little to the left of the Lumberjack's stall. There is a fishing map on the boat; using them to figure out where to go to fish up some to sell. You can get a fish display counter at the Lumberjacks as well.
- Animal Gatherer: Harvest from an animal for the first time. Put a goat, cow, or other animal from the Animal Market in your Barn, then collect milk from them.
- Meat the Butcher: Cut up your first animal for meat. Purchase an animal from the Animal Market, then get a knife; use the knife on the animal to get this achievement.
- Net Gain: Use a fish trap for the first time. The Lumberjack sells fish traps as well as the other fishing gear you will need.
- High-Tech Farming: Harvest your first crop from a greenhouse. The Architect has expansions for you to get greenhouses, which will let you grow season crops at any time of the year. Grow something inside one to get this achievement.
- Meat Cutter: Cut meat at the meat cutter for the first time. You can buy a meat cutter from the Engineer for 10,000c; use meat in it to cut it up.
- Baker's Delight: Bake your first delicious treat in the oven. Ovens can be purchased from the Engineer in town for 5,000c, but you need the Workshop expansion from the Architect before you can purchase one.
- Brand New You: Change the name of your market. Stand underneath the sign above the door of your shop. Look up at it to change the name.
Old Market Simulator FAQs - Junkman, Cellar, Events
There is a lot to do in Old Market Simulator, so you might be wondering about some odds and ends around town or that might occur while playing.
What does the Junkman do?
The Junkman purchases unwanted items from you at half value. Take the unwanted item into his shop, then throw it into the grinder using F. The price of the item will show up on the screen above the grinders; press the red button on the right of the grinders to accept.
What does the Cellar do?
The Cellar is used for storing items to stop the rotting process. When you have items that only last a few days, but you want to keep them for next season, you can store them in the Cellar. Items can be either dropped on the floor or stored on shelves. The Cellar needs to be unlocked with the Architect.
What is Pirate Visit/Frostbite/Heatwave/Inflation?
There are random events that can occur during specific seasons, or randomly at any time. Inflation causes the cost of buying things to go higher, and Pirate Visits make some items unsellable. Frostbite and Heatwave, which occur in winter and summer respectively, mean you will see far fewer customers than normal. For more information, hit ESC, then mouse over the event's name.
