The Arrival on Planet Namek chapter brings out Goku’s first “What if?” scenario, separating from Dragon Ball Z’s canon storyline. You’ll have two routes to unlock: Defeat Burter or Jeice. Both require a specific requirement to be met, tying into a special combat maneuver.
Here’s how to unlock Jeice and Burter’s path in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Arrival on Planet Namek.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Arrival on Planet Namek guide
The Arrival on Planet Namek chapter begins with Jeice’s fight. You’ll need to perform a particular interaction to trigger Burter’s appearance, leading you over to the canon pathway. We’ll break down both of them to give you a clearer picture.
How to defeat Burter in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero
Since the quest starts with Jeice, you must trigger Burter’s appearance by deflecting a Crusher Ball or lowering the difficulty level. Deflecting the ball is a part of Dragon Ball Z’s canon timeline, where Jeice and Burter work together to stop Goku. So, to stay on the true path, you must deflect it by pressing O/B (Standard) △+O/Y+B (Classic). If you need more help on this aspect, check out our guide on deflecting it successfully.
Once you’ve deflected the Crusher Ball, Burter will come in to help, allowing you to eliminate him. The same happens if you reduce the difficulty level, as this route always sticks with the canon pathways. Thus, if you want to skip the Crusher Ball situation, you can do it through this way to trigger Burter’s appearance.
Defeating Burter won’t be too difficult to accomplish (don’t worry; it’s not as strenuous as the Great Ape Vegeta battle). The main thing to look out for is his attacks like Full-Power Energy Ball and Space Mach Attack. Jeice and Burter also have a special together, using the Purple Comet Attack. Just try to avoid these as much as possible and perform a Perception strike to counter close-range punches.
How to defeat Jeice in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero
If you look at the Alternate Objective during the battle, it mentions that you must ‘defeat Jeice without deflecting a Crusher Ball.’ This description is just a fancy way of saying, “Eliminate Jeice,” like you normally would. You also don’t have to go the extra mile by deflecting the Crusher Ball, so use dodge or guard instead.
Jeice’s fight isn’t as challenging as Burter’s showdown. With Goku’s Spirit Bomb, you can take away a significant portion of his health, making him almost too easy to take down. There are also other handy tactics, like x20 Kaioken Kamehameha, Kaioken Rush, and Sparking mode’s enhancements. Use them to confidently defeat Jeice in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.
Considering that this version is the alternate route, you’ll be taken over to a different storyline with the Ginyu Force. The canon and alternate pathways will provide rewards at this point, including 1,000 Zenni and 50 Player EXP. If you already completed one of these scenarios, you can return to the Arrival on Planet Namek quest via the Episode Map and play it once more. You’ll get more gifts that way and discover new narratives that aren’t in the DBZ universe.
