Mastering Cheats In Minecraft: A Comprehensive Guide For Java And Bedrock

Being an open-world adventure, Minecraft is a game that allows you to essentially do anything. Despite that, there are a lot of things you cannot achieve in survival mode, like using useful and fun commands and having access to unobtainable blocks. This is why you need to learn how to enable cheats in your Minecraft world. Want to begin? Learn how to enable cheats in Minecraft Java and Bedrock right here.

How to Enable Cheats When Creating a Minecraft World

Enabling cheats in Minecraft while you’re making a world is very simple. Follow the steps below to do so:

For Bedrock Edition

When you're in the Create New World menu, access the Cheats tab. Then, click on the first “Cheats” setting to enable cheats in this Minecraft world. This means you’ll be able to use commands and switch game modes even in the survival world.

The cheats are enabled automatically for Creative mode, so you don’t need to do anything there.

For Java Edition

While in the Create New World menu, you can choose to enable Creative mode, which will automatically enable cheats.

If you want cheats in the survival world, then you should turn on the Allow Commands toggle, which was previously called Allow Cheats.

How to Enable Cheats After Creating a Minecraft World

You can also enable cheats after you’ve made a new survival world in Minecraft. Here are the easy steps to follow:

For Bedrock Edition

While in a world, pause the game and click on Settings.

If you scroll down inside the Game settings, you’ll see an option to Activate Cheats. Click on it and then on the Continue button in the pop-up window to activate cheats in your Bedrock world.

For Java Edition

Load up the world you want to enable cheats in and pause the game.

Click on the Open to LAN button. Here you can click on the Allow Commands toggle to enable it and then click on Start LAN World.

How to Disable Cheats in Minecraft

You now know how to enable cheats in your worlds, but it’s also useful to know how to disable them. Here is how to disable cheats in Minecraft in both editions.

For Bedrock Edition

On Bedrock, you can disable cheats by accessing the same Activate Cheats option in the Settings and turning it off. You can do this no matter whether you initially created a survival or creative world.

For Java Edition

On Java, this mechanic is a bit different. If you made a survival world initially and you allowed cheats through the LAN world, then you can simply close that world and open it again. This will reset the world and remove access to cheats. The game mode will not reset, so make sure you switch back to survival before exiting.

However, if you initially created a creative mode world with cheats enabled, you cannot disable cheats. Though, you can disable cheats while creating a creative world, and it will be possible for you to enable them through the LAN option and then disable them when you restart the world.

Now you know how to enable and disable cheats in Minecraft! This is not only useful to get lots of diamonds quickly, but also to experiment with mechanics and commands. If you found this guide helpful, don’t forget to share it with other Minecraft players you know!
