The Pagoda Realm: The Most Frustrating Experience In Black Myth Wukong

Black Myth Wukong features a stunning array of levels, each crafted with intricate details and unique challenges. However, one level stands out for all the wrong reasons: the Pagoda Realm. This area can be infuriating, and it certainly deserves its reputation as the worst part of the game. As you venture into Chapter 3, you may find yourself enchanted by the beautiful snowy landscape, only to face a jarring shift into a literal hellhole. This map serves as a prison, effectively keeping divine beings and Yaoguais trapped within. But what makes this area so drastically different from the rest of the game? Here’s the breakdown.

Pagoda Realm: An Overview of Its Challenges

The first major issue players encounter in the Pagoda Realm is the presence of Fall Damage. Unlike the earlier chapters, where fall damage was almost non-existent due to invisible walls, this area introduces a harsh reality that can catch you off guard. You might feel secure while traversing the beautiful landscape, only to find yourself plummeting to your demise from a seemingly harmless height.

The layout of the Pagoda Realm consists of narrow beam-like structures that are easy to fall off. A single misstep can lead to a frustrating death, making every jump feel like a gamble. Moreover, the presence of strategically placed enemies adds to the challenge, reminiscent of the frustrating mechanics found in Dark Souls 2, which makes navigating these narrow passages increasingly annoying.

Life Drain Mechanic and Unforgiving Bosses

As if fall damage weren't enough, the Pagoda Realm also features a life drain mechanic. At certain intervals, your health begins to plummet, often leaving you with a mere 30 to 40% of your maximum health. This can be devastating, as many enemies in this area can deplete your remaining health with just a couple of hits.

To make matters worse, two of the game's most annoying bosses reside in this realm: Captain Lotus-Vision and Captain Wise-Voice. Both of these bosses possess multiple one-hit kill attacks, making encounters with them particularly frustrating. Their unpredictable attack patterns can catch you off guard, leading to repeated failures and a sense of helplessness.

Strategies to Navigate the Pagoda Realm

After struggling for almost two hours in this area, I discovered a game-changing solution that helped me navigate the Pagoda Realm much more easily: the Cloud Step spell. This spell allows your character to become invisible for a brief period, enabling you to dash through the area without being hindered by enemies. It certainly felt like a breath of fresh air after the constant frustration!

This spell also proves invaluable during boss fights, giving you time to strategize your next moves without the pressure of immediate attacks. If you’ve been relying on the Rock-Solid spell, consider switching to Cloud Step to make clearing this area a much more manageable task.
