This area can be infuriating, and it certainly deserves its reputation as the worst part of the game. As you venture into Chapter 3, you may find yourself enchanted by the beautiful snowy landscape, only to face a jarring shift into a literal hellhole. This map serves as a prison, effectively keeping divine beings and Yaoguais trapped within. But what makes this area so drastically different from the rest of the game? Here’s the breakdown.

Unlike the earlier chapters, where fall damage was almost non-existent due to invisible walls, this area introduces a harsh reality that can catch you off guard. You might feel secure while traversing the beautiful landscape, only to find yourself plummeting to your demise from a seemingly harmless height.
The layout of the Pagoda Realm consists of narrow beam-like structures that are easy to fall off. A single misstep can lead to a frustrating death, making every jump feel like a gamble. Moreover, the presence of strategically placed enemies adds to the challenge, reminiscent of the frustrating mechanics found in Dark Souls 2, which makes navigating these narrow passages increasingly annoying.
Life Drain Mechanic and Unforgiving Bosses
As if fall damage weren't enough, the Pagoda Realm also features a life drain mechanic. At certain intervals, your health begins to plummet, often leaving you with a mere 30 to 40% of your maximum health. It certainly felt like a breath of fresh air after the constant frustration!
This spell also proves invaluable during boss fights, giving you time to strategize your next moves without the pressure of immediate attacks. If you’ve been relying on the Rock-Solid spell, consider switching to Cloud Step to make clearing this area a much more manageable task.
